Polyomino! Privacy Policy
For the Polyomino! mobile application
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Tower Labs Limited ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the Polyomino! mobile application ("the App").
We take your privacy seriously. Polyomino! is designed to be played offline and we collect the absolute minimum amount of data necessary to operate the App.
2. Data We Collect
Data collected by the App itself
Polyomino! stores all game progress, coin balance, trophy history and settings locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party.
Remote configuration
The App uses Firebase Remote Config to receive configuration that is essential for compliance and correct operation — for example, notifying you about changes to this Privacy Notice or the Terms, or prompting you to update an outdated version of the App. To deliver this configuration, Firebase Remote Config generates and stores a per-installation identifier on your device. This identifier is not linked to your identity and is used solely for the purpose of delivering configuration. There is no analytics or user-behaviour tracking, and all users receive the same configuration regardless of any attribute.
Player ID and payments
The App generates and stores a random Player ID locally on your device. This identifier is displayed within the App and is shared with the payment platform (Google Play or the Apple App Store) solely to facilitate order look-up in the event of a refund request or to help prevent fraud. We do not directly collect this identifier, but we may ask you to provide it if you contact us with a support or refund inquiry.
Platform-level data
When you download or purchase the App (including any in-app purchases), the relevant platform — Google Play or the Apple App Store — may collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We receive only aggregated, anonymised sales and crash data from these platforms.
Information you provide to us
We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the App. If you choose to contact us for support or inquiries, you may provide personal information in that communication (e.g. your email address). We will only use that information to respond to your inquiry and will not share it with any third party.
3. In-App Purchases
Polyomino! offers optional upgrades as in-app purchases. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We do not receive or store any payment card information.
As described above, a locally generated player identifier may be shared with the payment platform for order look-up and fraud-prevention purposes only.
4. Permissions
The App requests only the permissions necessary for it to function. It does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, or any other sensitive device resource.
5. Children's Privacy
Polyomino! is suitable for all ages and provides a high level of privacy by default for all users. We only process minimal information (i.e., installation/player IDs) that is strictly necessary to provide the functionality of the App, ensure security and fulfill our legal obligations. This data is pseudonymised and is not used to create behavioral profiles or for targeted advertising (see section 2).
If you are a parent and believe we have inadvertently collected information that identifies your child beyond these technical necessities, please contact us at privacy@towerlabs.co.ukso we can investigate and delete the data if necessary.
6. Third-Party Services
Polyomino! does not integrate third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks or social media frameworks. The App uses Firebase Remote Config (provided by Google) solely to deliver operational configuration as described in section 2. No behavioural data, usage statistics or personal information are shared with any third party.
7. Data Retention
We retain the minimal data described in section 2 for as long as necessary to provide the App's functionality, ensure security, and comply with legal obligations. The installation identifier is retained until you delete the app data or uninstall the app, at which point it is automatically anonymised.
8. Data Security
Where data is stored locally on your device, its security depends on your device's own security features. We recommend keeping your device OS up to date and using a strong device passcode. Where data is transmitted (e.g. when the App retrieves remote configuration), we use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS) to protect it in transit.
9. International Data Transfers
We may transfer your information to countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States. If we do so, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with applicable data protection laws. When we transfer your information outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, we may transfer it to countries that have been recognized by the European Commission or the UK Information Commissioner's Office as providing an adequate level of data protection or, if the recipient is based in the U.S., we may ensure that the recipient is a participant in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework program. In the absence of the aforementioned safeguards, we will ensure that standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or the UK Information Commissioner's Office are in place.
10. Your Rights
You have the follwing rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to access: You can request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: You can request that we correct any inaccuracies in your personal information.
- Right to erasure: You can request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to restrict processing: You can request that we restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability: You can request that we provide your personal information in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
- Right to object: You can object to our processing of your personal information in certain circumstances, including for direct marketing purposes.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@towerlabs.co.uk. We will respond to your request in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Please note that, as per section 2, we don't collect data related to game progress, achievements, or settings, which is only stored locally on your device. Therefore, requests related to that data cannot be fulfilled as we do not have access to it. Furthermore, deleting the app data or uninstalling the app will automatically anonymise the installation identifiers previously collected.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through an in-app notice or by updating the date at the top of this page.
12. Complaints
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK, if you believe we have not handled your data in accordance with applicable law.
